TWO-DAY WORKSHOP
with Michael Berkley
Saturday & Sunday, January 5 - 6, 2019    10 – 4:30pm

Michael has been teaching and displaying his work for over 40 years and is known for being a natural teacher with the ability to reach people at all levels of skill. In this two-day event, Michael combines two of his workshops: Anyone Can Center and Honing Your Skills. New to throwing? Learn to center a 3-pound piece of clay in less than 15 seconds. Not a problem, then learn “big clay techniques” that will allow you to center large pieces of clay. Discover techniques that nobody talks about that will allow you to take giant leaps forward towards your goal of throwing pots. Michael will work on a 1:1 basis with workshop participants. All skill levels welcome.

Michael Berkley served as Resident Artist and instructor at the University of Oregon and was an instructor at Walnut Creek Civic Arts for 18 years teaching raku-firing, pit-firing, beginning, intermediate and advanced ceramics. He also taught classes at The Potters’ Studio in years past. Michael has a strong interest in Archeology and Ancient Sumer which started early in his career while attending UW and continues to influence his work today. He has won numerous awards for his ceramic art and design.
