Whitney Smith Workshop
Let's Make Nesting Bowls!
The Potters' Studio Presents a One-Day workshop Taught by Whitney Smith
Sunday, May 20, 2018
10am – 4:30pm
Nothing quite catches the eye in the ceramic world the way a nested set of items do. They are useful as a series of graduated bowls and sculptural when stacked. You don’t have to be a master potter to make a simple set of nested bowls or plates. Learn some tricks & tips for throwing nesting sets in this one-day workshop. Find out how to calculate the weight & measurement of each item. You will be shown how to easily measure each piece as you throw it without using a ruler! Participants should have an intermediate set of throwing skills and be proficient in throwing bowls and/or plates.
Whitney Smith has been a potter for over two decades, working out of her studio full-time since 2000. Whitney’s work has been shown and collected across the United States as well as internationally. She has been invited to be an artist-in-residence in Japan and France, and has lectured and been interviewed extensively in print media and online about her life as a working artist. She resides in Vallejo, California.
