Two-Day Workshop with Sue Tirrell:
“Stories Around the Table: Narrative Surface Design”

Explore the connection between form and surface, color and design, vessel and story.  Visiting Montana artist Sue Tirrell will lead this jam-packed two-day workshop where she will share numerous processes she uses to create her highly decorative porcelain pottery including slab plate construction; drawing and design layout; the use of underglazes and sgraffito carving. Class discussion will center around various ways of introducing a narrative aspect to functional tableware. Participants are encouraged to bring favorite source materials including drawings, photographs, illustrations and ephemera to create a personal library of imagery.

One-Day Workshop with Visiting Korean Artist Moon Do Bang

The same workshop will be offered on two different days:

Don’t miss this opportunity to work alongside renowned Korean potter and Instagram Star Byung Sik Moon of MoonDoBang in a one-day, hands-on workshop! The workshop will utilize white stoneware clay for ease of use and availability. Moon will discuss how to prepare clay for throwing large vessels and demonstrate Korean techniques and his signature techniques for throwing cylinders, bowls and larger forms like his “Moon” jar. He will also show how he alters, shapes and facets his forms.
