Drop-In Use

Drop-in passes allow public access to the studio and include use of studio equipment and tools for people to work on clay projects. Bookings are not necessary but please call ahead as drop-in use is subject to space availability even within advertised drop-in hours (see right).

Please sign in when you arrive and let staff know you’d would like to pay for a drop-in pass. If you have purchased a pack of drop-in passes, you must still let staff know each time you come to the studio. Staff will give you a sticker in exchange for your pass that’s valid for your time in the studio.

Please Note: You must purchase a 2-hour short pass to glaze in our studio. The cost to use and fires with our glazes does not include access to the studio’s glaze area.

Skill Level

Drop-in use does not include instruction. You must have experience working with clay to use our studio.

Materials

  • Drop-in passes do not include clay. You can purchase a range of cone 10 stoneware and porcelain clays from us. If you bring your own clay, you must check with staff to have it OK’d for use in our studio.

  • You may use our in-house cone 10 glazes while at the studio; the cost of glazes is built into our contract firing rates. We have about 20 cone 10 glazes as well as colored slips, stains, and oxides.

Tools

Drop-in users can ask staff for use of a loaner tool set while at the studio.

Firing Services:

We can bisque-fire (cone 05), mid-fire (cone 6) or high-fire (cone 10) your work at contract rates. We charge by volume — staff can show you how we measure work for firing. There is a $20 minimum charge for any contract firing.

Storing Your Work

You may store your in-progress wet work on our greenware racks or in the damp room.

Unfortunately we cannot store bisque-ware or offer drop-in users cubby or other storage space for clay, tools or additional materials. Please label all your green work with a colored “monthly tag” that includes your name.
