Soda Firing Workshops

The Potters’ Studio has an active and enthusiastic soda firing community and we offer workshops both in-house and with visiting artists from around the country throughout the year. We believe in sharing knowledge about soda firing with everyone who is interested in learning more about this unique and exciting method of firing!

Our downdraft kiln, “Soda Pop,” was built by Ted Neal and has a capacity of 16 cubic feet. We are now rebuilding Soda Pop at our new studio home at 724 Camelia St.

We welcome Potters’ Studio Members and Students to workshops and also offer a limited number of slots to potters in the broader community who have a grasp of the basics of gas reduction firing.

Thanks to generous donors, we are able to offer a limited number of soda firing scholarships each year — email scholarship@pottersstudio.org for information.
