Gallery Policies
Any member can submit work for sale in the studio gallery. The work will not be juried. Work will be displayed for sale for a minimum of 3 months and then may be rotated out when there is a waitlist for members who want to show their work.
Each artist can bring in as much work as fits easily in 1 ft x 1.5 ft shelf space. Please see the photos below. If you have work that can be displayed in a short stack, you can count the stack as a single space. A few of your pots might not be displayed immediately and will be kept as backstock.
The studio will promote the work through Instagram posts and stories, and will reach out to local outlets to publicize the gallery. Please help publicize the gallery by posting to your social media! The studio will also provide administrative support for sales and gallery management, and conduct sales for the shop 7 days a week. The studio will take a 35% commission on all sales. Retail stores typically take 50% of sales.
You will be asked to sign up for the Bill app, and whenever your work sells you will receive payment through Bill during the following month when the Studio’s bookkeeper does the accounting.
Please bring in work that best represents your ceramic skills! The shop will not be selling seconds at this time. Also, please be sure to prepare the work for retail sales by making sure it is clean, has no rough bottoms, etc.
If you are interested, please send an email to gallery@berkeleypottersstudio.org. You will need to arrange a time with Serene or Antonia to check in the work and fill out some paperwork.
