Woodfire Week in Mendocino

  • Mendocino Art Center 45200 Little Lake Street Mendocino, CA, 95460 United States (map)

This week-long workshop will be a deep dive into the woodfiring process. Learn to fire this summer in the beautiful wooded, coastal surrounds of Mendocino and gain hands-on training in this community-centered firing practice.

Workshop programming at Mendocino Arts Center is centered around learning in a supportive and collaborative small-group setting.

Woodfiring has a unique beauty, with natural ash effects and flame patterns that make each piece one of a kind. In this immersive, hands-on workshop, Mendocino Arts Center teaching artist Katie Applebaum will guide you in preparing work for and firing MAC’s two wood fire kilns: a catenary arch kiln and a train kiln. Each participant will have a generous 3+ cubic feet of kiln space across the two firings.

Dates: This workshop starts the morning of Sunday, July 13 and ends the afternoon of Saturday, July 19.

Registration: Register directly with Mendocino Arts Center online. Priority access for The Potters’ Studio.

Fees: $1080 includes all educational, materials, and firing expenses.

Accommodation: Participants are responsible for their own accommodation, living expenses, and travel to and from Mendocino. Limited shared and camping spaces available at Cider Creek Collective — email events@thepottersstudio.org for more information.
